General Info

The first edition of the Torunian Carbon Symposium took place in 1992. Since that time, we have expanded the range of the exchange of knowledge in the fields of physics, chemistry, engineering and industrial technologies.

Exciting developments spanning material engineering, nanotechnology, biotechnology, electronics, electrochemical devices, are stimulated by research in the field of both the traditional and novel carbon materials. The combination of intriguing topologies of carbon systems and their mechanical, electronic and optical properties is key to delivering the new materials for industry. It is considered the tradition for professionals from industry to participate in each edition of the TCS. Much of participants of TCS are Ph.D students, which can know newest achievements in carbon investigations and discuss with eminent scientists.

The aims of the 9TCS are:

  • to provide an overview of the latest scientific achievements and technical advances in fabrication and study of such materials as carbon fibers, carbon nanotubes, graphite, graphene, nano- and bucky-diamonds, diamond thin layers, carbon composites, amorphous carbons, and activated carbons;
  • to facilitate for young scientists the making contacts, exchanging of experience and discussing with eminent experts in the field of physics, chemistry, engineering, and industrial technologies.

Anyone interested in research concerning carbon systems will find something interesting in the Torunian Carbon Symposium. We look forward to seeing you in Toruń.
